'GRANDAD BANDIT' HIT WITH 25 YR. SENTENCE

Thief
WITH his graying hair and friendly smile he looked like a kindly old grandfather, but Francis Mara only had one thing on his mind - money.
Dubbed the "Granddad Bandit" by the Feds, the 53-year-old went on a one man crime spree, robbing at least 24 banks in 15 states and taking a whopping $83,000 in heists.
His two-year run, which started in Richmond, Virginia ended last August after a standoff at his Baton Rouge, Louisiana home.
FBI dubbed Mara the "Granddad Bandit" to help law enforcement and the public easily identify the suspect, whose picture was posted on billboards around the country.

As he used no disguise Mara who will spend at least 25-years behind bars as part of the plea, was fairly easy to identify, once they caught him.
