DOGFIGHT 'LEGEND' HARRY HARGROVE JAILED 5 YRS.

MEET HARRY HARGROVE. Apparently headcase Harry is a legend in his sport. The problem is, his twisted sport is dogfighting and now he's been hammered five years in jail. The 78-year-old hillbilly's deeds were pretty vile.
One dog named Hurricane Hugo was, according to the Charlotte Observer: Restrained by a logging chain hooked to a car axle buried in the ground, the pit bull's only shelter from cold, heat and rain likely was a blue 50-gallon plastic barrel. At 46 lbs., he was described as severely underweight. If his days were spent as those of most fighting dogs, he spent hours each week on a treadmill to build his endurance. At other times, he would have been tethered within several feet of another dog to create aggression.
Dog trainer Amber Burckhalter said: "Their day-to-day life is spent chained to the ground. They unchain them for a dogfight and they go into the pit. And if they come out, they come out. And if they don't ..."
Burckhalter examined Hugo after an undercover investigator bought him at a dogfighting enclave in Duplin County in April 2010. The man who sold Hugo, Hargrove, is considered a legend in the dogfighting world. Family says he became a monster after Vietnam. MORE IN THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER

CUSTODY FIGHT TOOK TOLL ON LAURA JEAN ACKERSON

A FORMER boyfriend of murdered North Carolina mom Laura Jean Ackerson said that in recent emails she described how bitter her custody fight was. Detectives found Ackerson's dismembered remains in Texas Wednesday. She had been reported missing July 18. Her former boyfriend and the father of her two boys, aged 3 and 2, Grant Ruffin Hayes, 32, and his wife Amanda Perry hayes, 39, have been charged with murder.
James Harrison--who dated the pretty brunette from 2005 to 2008--said
that in an email dated July 11, Laura Jean revealed the terrible toll the battle with Hayes was taking. Both parties claimed the other was an unfit parent.

Harrison said: "She was involved in a very long court battle. Clearly, the relationship had gone sour. The manner in which it happened and the level of gruesome detail that went into Laura's disappearance has just killed me."
Apparently, Laura Jean and Hayes relationship had been volatile but Harrison initially believed he had the sort of traits that his ex was looking for in a man. He was tragically wrong.

LAURA JEAN ACKERSON'S KILLERS USED A MACHETE

THE PORTRAIT of the man accused of murdering and dismembering pretty single mom Laura Jean Ackerson is at odds with the twisted act of bloodlust he's been fingered for. The torso of Laura Jean, 27, was discovered in a creek near Houston, Texas--far from her North Carolina home. Police have yet to confirm the remains are hers but law enforcement sources tell Crime Scene USA its Laura Jean.
Now, her former boyfriend and his wife have been charged with killing
the friendly brunette, the mother of his two children. Cops believe she was murdered July 13 and her remains taken across the country. Charged are Grant Hayes and his wife Amanda. Amanda Hayes' sister lives where the remains were found, along with a machete.
Laura Jean's friend Jo Jackson said the young mom was turning her life around and hoped to be a teacher. Jackson said: "Although they are very young, they still know that mommy's not there and it does impact them, tremendously. Laura is not in a creek somewhere, Laura is in heaven and I believe that."
Grant Hayes' friend Mark Gierth said the accused killer is a talented musician who was thinking about returning to the Virgin Islands where he once lived. “He said it looks like the only way he’d get joint custody is if he lived in North Carolina. He can’t make any money there doing what he’s doing, so he’s going to let Laurahave the kids and he was going to move back to St. Thomas."

UPDATE: LAURA Jean Ackerson's ex-husband his current wife have been charged with murdering and dismembering the the pretty mom of two. Grant Ruffin Hayes, 32, and his wife, Amanda Perry Hayes, 39, are accused of killing Laura Jean. She had two children with Hayes and the pair were involved in a bitter custody dispute.

 EARLIER: A GRISLY discovery Sunday may have answered the tragic riddle of a North Carolina mom who vanished July 13. The dismembered remains were found outside Houston and detectives believe they belong to missing Kinston mom Laura Jean Ackerson, 27. According to reports, the pretty brunette was murdered in North Carolina and then taken to Texas where her remains were dumped. Cops have detained a suspect
but released few details.
Crime scene witness Joe Garza said cops took two coolers wrapped in saran wrap, a gun and a saw out of a house. Laura Jean was last seen in Raleigh and reported missing two days later when she didn't show up to pick up her children from her estranged husband. The relationship was
allegedly "volatile."
"She would have never showed up missing without the boys," former sister-in-law Sheri Lynne Ackerson said. "She would never take off and leave her kids." MORE ON MISSING MOM

MURDERED DANIELLE DENNIS-TOWNE FOUND IN TRUNK

CHICAGO TEEN Danielle Dennis-Towne had hoped to join the military in the fall. Instead, she is lying dead in a Virginia morgue, allegedly murdered by a friend.
Cops say blood and personal items found on a rural trail have led them to charge Enrico Luciano Mascaro, 19, with murder in the death of his friend Dennis-Towne. The two had been reported missing and authorities have not yet ID'd the body but sources say it is pretty blonde, Danielle Dennis-Towne. The body was found in the trunk of
Mascaro's car in Clifton Forge, Virginia, expected to be indicted today by cops in North Carolina. The young woman had been visiting Mascaro and his parents in Nags Head. They had been friends in Chicago.
But when they disappeared, his parents called the cops and reported them missing. According to The Virginian-Pilot, a couple hiking in the area spotted the blood and personal items.
Kitty Hawk Police Chief David Ward said: "We went up there and discovered that it looked like a possible crime scene. There was stuff there that linked us to get into conversation with Nags Head. That's when we found out that they were working a missing persons. The two cases kind of collided at that point."
One of the Dennis-Towne's relatives said: "We're all just so sad. It's the worst nightmare a family can ever imagine."

LESLIE NICHOLS RECORDED SICK SEX ACTS WITH GIRL, 8

MEET THE sickest woman in America: July 12th, 2011 edition. Former U.S. Marine Leslie Nichols, 41, entered a no contest plea in the sexual molestation of an 8-year-old girl in Jacksonville, North Carolina. Trial heard the victim's babysitter suspected the child was being sexually abused in 2009. And it gets more twisted.
The one-time Leatherneck confessed to cops that she instructed the child to perform sex acts. Detectives discovered the maniacal Marine used a webcam to record the depraved acts of the blonde and the child. She then sent the images to pal Michael Jenkins. He has been tried in military court and sentenced to 40 years in military prison. The victim's father was serving overseas when the attacks occurred.


The dad said:"They're going to survive this. They will absolutely survive this, because ... I am strong. I may not look like it right now, but I am strong, and I will put every ounce of their burden on my shoulders."
Nichols was a family readiness officer at Camp Lejeune. She provided support to families while their loved one were overseas, but her victim was not one of her clients. Nichols was sentenced to a range of 25 to almost 31 years in prison. After she is released, she will be on the sex offender registry and will be monitored by GPS for another 30 years.  MEET MONSTER

Biyad's wife testified that he arrived home from work enraged and beat and raped her until she was unconscious. Then he slashed his kids throats. Prosecutors called it the "worst" crime they had ever seen.

FACELIFT LOVE GRUDGE SLAYING: CHARGES DROPPED

PROSECUTORS in North Carolina have dropped a murder charge in a bizarre cased that mixed plastic surgery, teen rivalry and a 30-year grudge. The charges were dropped against nurse Sally Jordan Hill, a former nurse anesthetist who had been accused of killing her former high school love rival Sandra Baker Joyner in 2001 by juicing her up with deadly drugs while she was recovering from a mini-facelift.
District Attorney Andrew Murraysaid he was troubled by Hill’s actions but
there wasn't enough  Justice, in this case, would be to drop the charge, he said. Hill was charged in 2006.
The two women had been classmates at Olympic High School in the 1970s. Detectives believed the case involved a 30-year-old grudge over a former boyfriend.

NC JURY: LOVE RAT BRAD COOPER MURDERED WIFE

A TECHIE love rat has been convicted of murdering his wife and has been sentenced to life in prison. Brad Cooper--originally from Calgary, Canada--strangled his wife inside their suburban Raleigh, North Carolina home in July 2008. He was found guilty of first-degree murder in the high-profile trial that was rife with sex, infidelity and money.
Judge Paul Gessner said: "Your verdict in this case speaks the everlasting truth. This case is a horrible, sad tragedy . . . I suspect this matter will weigh heavily upon you in the days to come."
Nancy Cooper--the mother of his two children--was
found naked and strangled to death in a drainage ditch about 3 miles from her home. Hubby said he had gone out jogging but soon the spotlight was on him.  But as detectives dug deeper they discovered that the couple had both been involved in sexual affairs with other people.

Brad Cooper has maintained his innocence since he was arrested.
