FBI JOINS HUNT FOR MISSING CELINA CASS, 11

A DESPERATE search is underway in New Hampshire for missing 11-year-old Celina Cass and now the FBI has been called in to help unravel the mystery. The West Stewartstown--about a mile from the Canadian border-- girl vanished Monday night around 9 p.m. from her home. She was last seen playing on her computer. When her parents went to wake her up the next morning, Celina was gone. Authorities are searching the Connecticut River
Lt. Douglas Gralenski said they were searching the residential area along the Connecticut River and in nearby woods. Her parents say Celina is not the type to run away.
Her stepdad Wendell Noyes said Celiona was quiet: "I'm not really at liberty to say anything. She's just a little girl and she's a nice little girl."

 Shannon Towles, said Celina's disappearance has stunned the town of 800.
She said: "It's creepy. Things like this don't happen here. I know that's kind of a tired phrase. I'm an overprotective mom as it is. Now it's going to be way worse."
Cops say there is no indication Celina ran away or that another family member may have taken her. On the other hand, there were no signs of a struggle. Celina is 5-foot-5, 95 lbs., and has waist-length hair and hazel eyes. She was last wearing a pink shirt, pink pullover, blue shorts and shoes

HERO COP CATCHES BABY THROWN BY KIDNAPPER

IT was probably the most important catch he'll ever make, as one hero Chicago cop snagged a baby thrown at him by a kidnapping subject trying to get away. 

Arriving on the scene, witnesses pointed to a man in his 20s who they said had taken the tot, who was less than a year old. 

As they approached the man, he turned and tossed the baby high into the air and scrambling, the officer caught it, ensuring it wasn't hurt, reports The Chicago Sun Times. 

One astonished onlooker said: "It was pretty amazing. Lord knows what would have happened to the child if they hadn't been there. It could have been seriously injured."

But as he returned it to the mother, the suspects started punching the other officer, which led to a huge scrap between them all before they were able to subdue and arrest him.      

 Both officers were injured during the fight suffering cuts, bruises and one had a sprained shoulder and they were treated at Mount Sinai Hospital and released.

The mother and baby, who did not appear to be injured, left the scene during the fight.

The relationship between the suspect and the woman and child was not immediately known.

MURDERED DANIELLE DENNIS-TOWNE FOUND IN TRUNK

CHICAGO TEEN Danielle Dennis-Towne had hoped to join the military in the fall. Instead, she is lying dead in a Virginia morgue, allegedly murdered by a friend.
Cops say blood and personal items found on a rural trail have led them to charge Enrico Luciano Mascaro, 19, with murder in the death of his friend Dennis-Towne. The two had been reported missing and authorities have not yet ID'd the body but sources say it is pretty blonde, Danielle Dennis-Towne. The body was found in the trunk of
Mascaro's car in Clifton Forge, Virginia, expected to be indicted today by cops in North Carolina. The young woman had been visiting Mascaro and his parents in Nags Head. They had been friends in Chicago.
But when they disappeared, his parents called the cops and reported them missing. According to The Virginian-Pilot, a couple hiking in the area spotted the blood and personal items.
Kitty Hawk Police Chief David Ward said: "We went up there and discovered that it looked like a possible crime scene. There was stuff there that linked us to get into conversation with Nags Head. That's when we found out that they were working a missing persons. The two cases kind of collided at that point."
One of the Dennis-Towne's relatives said: "We're all just so sad. It's the worst nightmare a family can ever imagine."

3 MONTHS AFTER KIDNAPPING: WHERE'S HOLLY BOBO?

THREE MONTHS. That's what Wednesday will mark. Three months since pretty blonde Tennessee nursing student Holly Bobo, 20, was snatched from her rural home by a man dressed in camouflage. So far, cops from the TBI appear to have run up against a series of brick walls and the trail--if not frozen--is ice cold. Despite thousands of volunteers scouring the woods near her home, clues have been few. For the family of Holly, the last three months have been agonzing and has also left her famous cousin, country star Whitney Duncan, in pieces as well.
Holly's mom Karen said: "Sundays are the hardest days because we were together, our whole family, all day long. Usually on Sunday we were doing things."

Her brother Clint had witnessed the abduction.
TBI Agent John Mehr said: "He actually had an arm holding her, so we feel she knew she was in fear of her life, so she was compliant with his commands."
Cops say Clint Bobo thought the camouflaged man was her boyfriend.  Investigators were initially not clear about how long it took her brother to realize something was wrong, but said said it did not take long. "A very, very short time," one law enforcement official said.
Aside from some items belonging to Holly that were discovered nearby, they have found nothing. And now hope has given way to terror. The next act in the friendly Tennessee woman's disappearance too terrible to contemplate. Detectives believe her abductor knew her and the area.
There is an $85,000 reward for information leading to Holly Bobo's location and the arrest of her abductor.  She is 5-3 and weighs 110 pounds with blonde, shoulder length hair and blue eyes.  Holly Bobo was last seen wearing a pink shirt and light blue jeans. JAYCEE Dugard didn't try to escape from the hands of her perverted kidnapper because she felt that that by staying she was preventing other children being kidnapped and raped.  
Answering the question that had puzzled people, she testified that she was determined to help others avoid creepy Phillip Garrido's sick perversions. 
The 32-year-old said: "He said he had a sex problem and that if he got me he wouldn't have to do this to anyone else. So I felt I was helping prevent this happening to anyone else, even if it was in a sick and perverted way.
Dugard, who's book 'A Stolen Life: A Memoir',  is due out soon, was snatched, when she was just 11-years-old, added that she felt trapped in Garrido's home in Antioch, east of San Fransisco, especially after giving birth to her daughters Angel, now 15, and Starlet, 13, and feared without any money she had nowhere to go.
She said: "I always felt I was a coward. I was scared of Phillip. And I did not feel like I had anywhere to run to. And, later on, I realised I had the girls and no money, and where would I go'?"
Duggard's nightmare began after she waved goodbye stepfather and walked to a bus stop, when Garrido crawled up behind her in his car and pounced with his wife Nancy.   
She said: "All of a sudden his hand shoots out of the car window and I feel this shock, I stumble back into the bushes trying to back away,"
"But my body feels all tingly and suddenly I'm in the car, in the back, on the floorboards, under a blanket and there is someone sitting on me.
"And then, as we drive on for what seems like for ever, and I am hot and my bladder has emptied, I hear this man say 'I can't believe we got away with it,' and he started laughing."
She also revealed how she pleaded with him to release her, explaining her family could not afford a ransom.
But she quickly realised he was more concerned with having a sex slave rather than earning money from his abductee.

HOLLY BOBO, LAUREN SPIERER: CHILLING SIMILARITIES

TWO STUDENTS. Two blondes. Both petite. Both 20-years-old. Two young women in the prime of their lives. Two victims? The disappearance of Indiana University student Lauren Spierer on June 3 has chilling similarities to the mysterious April kidnapping of Tennessee nursing student Holly Bobo. They look eerily the same and it is raising frightening questions.
Lauren's mom Charlene said: "I can't even tell you what it's like to get that phone call that your daughter is missing." Holly's mom
Karen adds: "I think of her. I love her."
Despite intense efforts in Tennessee and Indiana for the recovery of both young women, cops appear to have hit brick walls despite hundreds of man hours and  hundreds of volunteer searchers. There has been no arrest in either case, although persons of interest have been questioned.
The similarities between the two are so great that many have mistaken the photo of Bobo for Spierer and vice versa. More frightening: it's not just these two women, other students missing around the country fit the same description.
Information leading to the discovery of Spierer, the daughter of a prominent New York family, could bring a $100,000 reward. Bobo's cousin is country singer Whitney Duncan. There is an $85,000 reward offered in her case.

JAYCEE DUGGARD'S KIDNAPPER 'IMPOSSIBLE TO DEFEND'

THE EVIL kidnapper, who took Jaycee Duggard and turned her into his personal sex slave for nearly two decades was "impossible to defend" his lawyer has revealed. Crazy Phillip Garrido's public defender Susan Gellman had no choice but to take the case, adding her virtually impossible task was made more difficult due to his belief that a trial would revolve around what he called "the gift from God."
She told KOVR: "He would say he acknowledged his guilt from the very beginning and he never wanted a trial. He really thought the whole case
was about his 'gift'.
"There was no defense possible."
She added that she has received hate mail and death threats since she was assigned to defend him.

Back in June 1991 Garrido and his wife Nancy plucked the 11-year-old Duggard from the street as she headed for the school bus in South Lake Tahoe.
Smothering her in a blanket they tasered her and took her to their grotty him in Antioch, CA and   
Garrido sexually assaulted her on arrival.
For the first three years, until the birth of her first daughter in August, 1994, Garrido would force himself on Jaycee once a week or more.
After that they slowed and once she'd given birth to her second child in 1997 he stopped completely.
She said, she stayed out of fear for both herself and her children, then because she had no place to go. During 18 years in captivity, she never tried to escape.
Garrido was eventually caught after an attempt to hold events on the UC Berkeley campus to promote his revelations about mental illness and what he believed were his supernatural abilities.

What shocked Gellman most about the case was the story of how Phillip and Nancy Garrido formed a relationship with Jaycee over time.
She said: "There was a kindness that emerged between the people that were involved. Probably for Ms. Dugard; it was the way she had of coping."
She added that he appeared to be distant and distracted from the very beginning.
"It was like he really wasn't there," she explained.
Even now, nearly two years after his arrest  Gellman said Garrido still isn't interested in speaking out about the case, believing that anything he would say now wouldn't be "received."
Garrido received a sentence of 431 years to life and his wife Nancy was sentenced to 36 years to life as a plea deal that spared Dugard having to testify.

HOLLY BOBO'S FAMILY: 'EVERY DAY IS MORE DIFFICULT'

IT'S BEEN six weeks since Tennessee nursing student Holly Bobo, cousin of country star Whitney Duncan, was kidnapped by a mysterious man in camouflage and there is no sign of her--anywhere. As the trail grows colder and colder her parents Dana and Karen can barely eat and are fighting to keep their spirits up. And their mood is not helped by the fact that county wide searches have stopped.
Family spokesman Kevin Bromley said: “Every passing day that we don’t find Holly is more difficult for the family. But they have not lost hope. They believe their daughter is alive.”
Here's what cops think happened, according to THE TENNESSEAN:
 The day she went missing Bobo put on her bright pink shirt, jeans and black flip-flops and packed her lunch for another day of nursing school at the nearby UT-Martin campus. Her brother, Clint, was still asleep. Their parents had already left for work. At 7:40 a.m., Holly walked to her black Ford Mustang on the long, winding driveway leading to the Bobo family’s rural Decatur County home.

Minutes later, the family’s dog barked, waking Clint. He walked to the kitchen window that faces the expansive, treelined backyard to see what the ruckus was about. A man dressed in camouflage had his sister by the arm, leading her into the woods, he later told the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The psychology student went out to his sister’s Mustang. She was supposed to be on her way to school, he knew. Next to her car, pooled a small puddle of blood and a spilled Coke can.
Wide awake now, Clint Bobo ran into his house and called 911. He called his mother, Karen, a second-grade teacher who usually chatted by text with Holly several times a day. Panicked now, he ran into the woods where he had last seen his sister.
Nothing. She was nowhere. No more blood.
The next day, Holly Bobo’s packed lunch was found about six miles north of her home toward Interstate 40. More of Holly’s belongings were found. Investigators with the TBI aren’t saying how many, or what the items are. They’re also not saying whose blood was next to Holly’s Mustang.

ERIKA GALLEGO KIDNAPPED OWN GRANDCHILD: COPS

SHE was the last person they ever thought would ever take their baby, sparking sheer terror and a massive manhunt. But Ericka Gallego, 58, snatched her sleeping grandchild Ramy from her bassinet while her parents slept beside her in the their Knightsen, CA, home and then tried to pass her off as her own. 
Cops believe she had been devising the plan for weeks and even had a baby shower for the baby, who she renamed Katrina. 
Ramy’s father and Ericka's son, Rudy Gallego said he never believed
his mother planned to harm the baby and said investigators found her in good health.
He told CBS Sacramento "She loves the baby. She just took a very big mental wrong turn. We don’t know if she came to plot it out when she was here and figure out where the baby slept."
His wife Kristen was perhaps unsurprisingly, less forgiving saying she was happy that the baby is back at home but wants her mother-in-law to go to jail for what she did. 
She said: "I never thought she was capable of it or would pre plan something like this and now I would just like to see her in jail." Gallego was booked into the Los Angeles County Jail on Monday for charges of kidnapping after being picked up thanks to a tip up to the police.

ELIZABETH SMART WILL SPEAK AT SENTENCING

KIDNAP victim Elizabeth Smart is planning to speak during the sentencing hearing for her kidnapper Brian David Mitchell.
As a 14-year-old Smart was taken from her home at knifepoint raped her and held her captive for nine months by Mitchell and his wife Wanda Ileen Barzee.
He was found guilty of federal kidnapping and unlawful transportation charges in December and faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
Throughout most of the case, Smart maintained a dignified silence but now she says her goal is to not only speak for her case, but also for other victims.
"I hope it gives others hope that they can speak out and not be scared to face their captor," Smart told KUTV.

Once the sentencing hearing is over, Smart hopes to continue work as an advocate for children and victims of crime, especially kidnapping.
She has started the Elizabeth Smart Foundation and her first goal is to get the RADkids program in public schools. RAD, which stands for "Resist Aggression Defensively," teaches kids specific techniques to get away from would-be attackers.
She will also complete two more semesters at Brigham Young University before graduating with a degree in music after which she is thinking about possibly pursuing a career as an attorney to help crime victims further.

ELIZABETH SMART 'NOT DAMAGED' LAWYERS CLAIM

KIDNAP victim Elizabeth Smart is a "survivor" who wasn't "significantly psychologically damaged" by her abduction defense lawyers have astonishingly claimed.
Brian David Mitchell's attorney's made the amazing claim in a four-page court filing, in an effort to persuade a judge to give him a lighter sentence.
At age 14, Elizabeth Smart was snatched from her bedroom at knife point in 2002. She was held captive by Mitchell, a homeless street preacher, and his wife Wanda Barzee for nine months.
Mitchell forced her to "marry" him in a polygamous union.
But despite the horrific nature of the crime his lawyers claim she
hasn't suffered more than other victims of similar crimes.
Defense attorney Robert Steele told Fox 13: "Even though there is extreme conduct on my client's part, Ms. Smart overcame it. Survived it. Triumphed over it. These are all words used by her and the government." 
Smart's furious father, Ed, agreed that his daughter was a survivor and called claims are "outrageous," and clearly a legal maneuver, the station reported..
He said: "I thank the Lord that Elizabeth is doing so well and that she's able to move beyond this," Smart said. "But the bottom line comes down to, Mitchell has a significant problem. I truly believe that if he got out again, that he would do the same thing."

CALI COPS HUNT MONSTER WHO KIDNAPPED GIRL, 9

IT'S every parent's worst nightmare - a thief breaks in and walks away with their most precious possession, their sleeping 9-year-old daughter. But after a frantic search officers found the disorientated, seriously injured girl going door to door hours later, several miles away from her home in Riverside, CA.
The girl and her two siblings, who's ages authorities have not provided that ages of live with their single mother, whom police said was not
home at the time of the abduction.
Sgt. Wayne Ramaekers  said: "At this time, we're just focusing on apprehending the bad guy."

The girl was hospitalized and her name was not released.
The abducted girl told police a man she didn't know carried her away and later dumped her from his car in another part of Riverside, located 60 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
Police called a press conference for Tuesday to update the public on the investigation and cautioned residents to think about their security at all times.
A spokesman said: "Unfortunately, we live in a world where we have to think of our safety and security, and that probably means keeping our doors and windows locked at night."
