COPS have made an astonishing breakthrough in the brutal 1984 murder of schoolgirl Tina Faelz.
Almost 27-years ago the 14-year-old's body was found viciously stabbed by a culvert which she had used for  shortcut home from the Foothills High School in Santa Cruz, CA.
But despite a huge police investigation, no one was ever caught for the brutal crime, until now, when DNA has apparently revealed her killer.

DNA found on the end of the Newport, has been linked with Charles Brook Jr, who is already serving time for a 1991 rape.

ROB NOWAK CASTRATION SLAY TRIAL: SEX CULT DID IT

THE DEFENSE team for a California man on trial in a grisly Michigan dismemberment murder is blaming a bizarre sex cult for the vile deed. Robert Nowak, 51, is on trial for murdering Troy Moross, 26, in February 2001. He had been castrated in a "precise surgical fashion." Detectives linked Nowak to the murder after he was  busted for a burglary in California and his DNA was a hit. However, his mouthpiece says Moross was murdered and mutilated by a weird sex cult who got their kicks by the sickening acts.
According to the Detroit Free Press: Federal agents with Immigration and Custom Enforcement have been investigating the cult, and have seized thousands of photos of mutilations and torture.
Dr. Kanubhai Virani, medical examiner for Oakland County, said that in
ROBERT 2005, the feds investigating the cult asked him to review Moross' autopsy report to see if his injuries were like the ones found in the mutilation photos. They also asked him to look at photos of surgical tools and sex toys found in the sex den. PROSECUTOR TO JUDGE: WE WANT RILEY CHOATE'S DNA

RILEY Choate's DNA is being sought by prosecutor's working on the horrific murder of his 13-year-old son. Christian Choate's battered body was found in a shallow grave near his home on the Gary, IN, trailer park where he was allegedly kept in a dog cage and horribly abused by his father and stepmother Kimberly Kubina.
The tragic 13-year-old wrote "I want to die" in a diary, within weeks of his tragic life being cut short.
Now, Deputy Prosecutor Michael Wood is asking Criminal Court Judge Diane Boswell's permission to collect genetic material with a cotton swab from the mouth of 39-year-old Riley, who is pleading not guilty to murder.
Choate's defense attorney Randy Godshalk said: "I presume they are trying to establish a DNA match between Riley and Christian Choate. It's kind of a standard request."
He told the NWI Times  said state law gives him little leeway to oppose the DNA evidence collection from his client.
Choate is set to appear in court for a variety of pretrial motions, including a request by the prosecution for his handwriting sample and a defense motion for a independent autopsy to investigate the medical cause of the victim's death.
The coroner's office states Christian died in early 2009 of blunt force trauma and a skull fracture.
Godshalk is asking the court to dismiss the case against his client on grounds the charges are too vague regarding the time and other details of the boy's death.
Kubina Choate also is pleading not guilty.

DNA USED TO CONVICT AMANDA KNOX 'UNRELIABLE'

AN EXPLOSIVE revelation has come out of Amanda 'Foxy Knoxy' Knox's appeal in Italy: the DNA evidence used to convict her was "unreliable" and likely contaminated, an Italian newspaper reported Wednesday. The leaked review will likely be made public Thursday.
The report was ordered by the judge hearing Knox's appeal. The 23-year-old Seattle native was convicted along with two men in the sickening slaying of her roommate, pretty Brit student Meredith Kercher. It was believed the murder was the result of a drug-fuelled sex game gone awry.
According to the paper: The original case was told Knox's DNA was found on the knife believed to be the murder weapon and traces of Kercher's DNA was found on the blade.
But the report found that the genetic profile attributed to Meredith may not be usable. It also says that traces of beau Rafael Sollecito's DNA found on the clasp of Kercher's bra strap could have come from atmospheric contamination and pointed to mistakes in the tests.
Foxy Knoxy is serving 25 years in the Casa Del Jailo for the crime. She has denied involvement, as has Sollecito. MORE ON FOXY KNOXY

DNA CRACKS DEAF DAWN NILES' 1981 COLD CASE SLAY

30 YEARS LATER

A 30-YEAR-OLD Chicago cold case has finally been cracked thanks to new DNA evidence.
Dawn Niles was last seen alive in March 1981, when she left the Windy City's Hinsdale South High School with her boyfriend Gary Albert. Five days later a fisherman found the 15-year-old's body buried in a nearby forest.
She had been repeatedly stabbed and an autopsy later revealed that she had been three months pregnant at the time of her death.

Now, 30 years later, Albert, 48, stands accused of her murder after modern techniques linked his DNA to her body The Chicago Tribune reports.
Prosecutor's believe that Niles and Albert who belonged to the high school's drama club for the deaf and the local chapter of the Junior Illinois Association for the Deaf had fought about her pregnancy.  
Friends told them that Albert didn't want to take responsibility for the child and suggested she tell her parents that she had either been raped or impregnated by someone else, according to court filings.
A defense lawyer for Albert, who had pled not guilty called those statements improper hearsay and argued against them, claiming they "infuse undue prejudice," records show.
In pretrial motions they said that it can't be proved that Albert was aware of the pregnancy and that he had no motive to commit such a crime.
The trial which is set to start this summer is expected to present a number of logistical issues for both prosecutors and defense because the defendant and some of the witnesses are hearing-impaired.
A recent pretrial hearing raised the possibility of using as many as three sign language interpreters at the same time.
Albert is currently free on $1 million bail.

DNA CRACKS 1987 CALIFORNIA STABBING MURDER

A QUARTER-of-a-century after he was found stabbed to death in the street cops believe they have finally cracked the murder case of Richard Schultz.
The 52-year-old was found with multiple stab wounds in June 1987 in a Sacramento, California, alleyway along with another man who was treated by emergency personnel and survived.
Detectives at the time determined both victims and a third unknown man had been drinking beers in a carport and for unknown reasons, Schultz and the suspect began arguing, leading the suspect to stab both of them.
But he was gone by the time emergency crews arrived, and the case remained unsolved. But, now almost 25-years after the murder Cops have picked up 48-year-old Gregory Samuel Olguin.
as they say DNA was a match to evidence collected at the scene.
Sacramento Police spokeswoman Laura Peck said: "He matched the description to a "T", so that was another way we connected him to the crime.
"However, it was the DNA that was crucial in solving this case."
However in an jailhouse interview with News 10  Olguin denied having killed Schultz, but admitted he may have met the man. 
He told them: "It's been so long since I've been down there. I mean, I did a lot of messed up things in my life, but not this. No."
