A United Airlines flight was forced into a dramatic emergency landing that cost the taxpayer thousands after two passengers started a fistfight over a reclined seat, it has emerged.

Fighter jets were scrambled with two F-16s escorting Flight 990 as it dumped fuel to lessen its weight in order to land on Sunday night.

The Boeing 767, from Washington's Dulles Airport bound for Accra in Ghana, had 144 people on board when the fight broke out, a Federal Aviation Administration spokesman said.

Issa blasts Commerce nominee as 'green evangelist'

The whole "green" thing is a sham marketing term that the Left has latched onto to promote low-paying jobs for minorities for minorities putting up solar panels. Former Clinton Labor Secy Robert Reich famously said that the new green jobs shouldn't go to white construction workers. I would put up the video,but it's been wiped off the net.

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) blasted President Obama on Tuesday for nominating John Bryson to be the next Commerce secretary, calling the decision "deeply out-of-touch with our current energy challenge."

Issa said Bryson is a "green evangelist" and took aim at the long-time energy company CEO for co-founding the Natural Resources Defense Council, a leading environmental group.

"With gas prices at nearly four dollars a gallon, it’s certainly eye-catching that President Obama has nominated a founder of an organization that opposes efforts to increase domestic oil production to serve as the nation’s key advocate for our economic interests," Issa said in a statement. "The nomination of John Bryson to lead the Department of Commerce seems deeply out-of-touch with our current energy challenge."

CARMEN MONTENEGRO FOUND WITH BODY PARTS IN BIN

CRAZY?

SHE clearly wasn't trying to hide anything or if she was she was doing a very bad job.
Because in broad daylight Carmen Montenegro was seen pushing a trash can filled with body parts along the street in her Ontario, CA neighborhood.
The 51-year-old walked at least 200-yards along the sidewalk, from the home she shared with a relative for at least 15-years.

Investigators spent Monday excavating the property outside the home where the body is believed to have come from after they found what may be body fluids in part of the yard.
Detective Jeff Crittenden said: "We have to wait for analysis to see if what we located is a match to the body itself."
The contents of the trash can contained the partial remains of an unidentified man. Officials declined to say which body parts were present or missing The San Bernadino Sun reports. 
Crittenden added: "I personally didn't see it. I just know that it is something you would not normally see in the middle of the daytime."

Cops believe the man's remains were dug up from the backyard of the home after they found a hole dug in the lawn.

DOUBLE murder suspect Joran Van der Sloot's lawyer has given up on him and quit defending him against murder allegations in Peru - citing unspecified differences over strategy.     
The prime suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway, has now been abandoned by his legal adviser in his murder case in the killing of 21-year-old Stephany Flores.
The pretty Peruvian's body was seen entering in in his hotel room, but never left. 
His lawyer, Maximo Altez, however withdrew from the case saying: "I can not defend this case in the way he wants me to."

He refused to elaborate on his client, who he had been defending on a pro bono basis, although he made it clear that money was not a factor in his decision to quit.
He added: "I thought this case would be a good opportunity to show the world that in Peru detainees are abused, and the Peruvian justice system is very informal."
It's thought a public defender will be applied to the case.
Police say Van der Sloot took Flores' money and bank cards from her wallet and fled to Chile, where he was arrested a few days later, although they have yet to file formal charges against him. 
Once the discovery phase of the case ends, prosecutors will file charges and a trial date will be set.

ROLES REVERSED: ATTIC MOM RACHEL PEREZ LOCKED UP

AN EVIL mom who kept her disabled son locked up in an attic will get a taste of her own medicine after she was sentenced to eight years in prison.
Rachel Perez, 26, who's son has Down syndrome kept him locked in her attic, where investigators found him covered with feces and urine and weighing less than 20 pounds.
The boy’s younger sister told the court in Olathe KS her brother had been in the attic for two years The Lawrence Journal-World  reports.
She also said Perez often left all three children home alone for hours at a time, while she went out with friends or visited her boyfriend.
She added: “My mom stopped giving my brother food a long time ago but I don’t know why,” the girl said. “He would just cry and cry and I felt sad for him.”
A pediatrician also testified the boy would have died within days if he hadn't been found. Dr. Lisa Spector said: “Given the condition he was in when he was brought to the hospital, he was nonambulatory and had little to no muscle tissue remaining. I don’t think he would have lived another 24 hours."
All four of her children have now been placed into foster care after she was given the maximum sentences allowed for attempted second degree murder, child abuse and child endangerment.
Her attorney argued Perez never intended to kill her son and should not have been charged with attempted murder.

BEER PONG BRAWL LED TO FATAL STABBING: COPS

A BOOZY battle over beer pong ended in tragedy after an argument over the drinking game led to a fatal stabbing of a New Jersey firefighter, cops say.  William Walker Jr, 21 had apparently argued during the game with Naqeebulla Habibi, 19 but the drunken pair had apparently made up.
But as they were leaving the party a fistfight broke out between them and then Habibi allegedly stabbed Walker in the chest.     
He was later pronounced dead at Cooper University Hospital.
His cousin Greg Probst, told The Philadelphia Enquirer Walker was a volunteer firefighter had been pursuing his dream of turning pro, while working as a medic in Atlantic City.
He added: "He was a very energetic and happy guy."
Naqeebulla Habibi, 19, was charged with murder and is being held in Camden County Jail on $750,000 bail.

RECLINED SEAT BRAWL FORCED FIGHTER JET SCRAMBLE

A CRAZY brawl between passengers over a reclined seat, forced two F-16 fighter planes to scramble to help a United Airlines flight into a dramatic emergency landing. 
The Boeing 767 bound for Accra in Gahan had 144 people on board when a fight broke out, forcing the pilot to dump fuel to lessen its weight in order to land. 
A federal aviation official confirmed that fighter jets, which cost $50,000 an hour to scramble were sent up from Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
The Washington Post reports that the brouhaha began shortly after takeoff when one passenger lowered his seat and the person behind him objected.
Obviously he reclined too far because the second passenger smacked the first and a fistfight broke out between the pair.
A flight attendant and another passenger intervened, and the pilot - who has full authority over a flight once it is in the air - decided to turn the plane around.
A United spokesman told the paper that the pilot made that decision rather than carry on as he was unsure of the scope of the problem.
The fact that the plane was near Washington DC also was apparently a factor in his decision, so he took no chances and informed the tower he was returning to the airport.  
The flight was met at the airport by members of the Dulles police force - not the FBI - and, despite the drama, officers decided there was no need to press charges.
