But although he appeared smiling in court yesterday, neighbors of the man they knew as Charles Gasko claimed his health had deteriorated in recent years and he suffered from Alzheimer's disease and emphysema.

According to The Boston Herald: Two weeks ago, they posted a sign on their front door that read: Please do not knock at anytime, a neighbor said.

Januss Goodwin, 61, a retired religious worker who often visited the couple in their apartment, told the paper: "I thought it was because he was so ill that if somebody knocked it might mess up his head.

"I thought they were just nice people. Obviously, I was wrong."

She added his girlfriend, former dental hygienist Catherine Greig "always looked very pretty" but added that the couple never replaced their apartment furniture.

Bulger will now return to Boston where he will face murder charges for at least 19 people and a string of other offenses.

BIZARRE MEX BOLOGNA SMUGGLER FINED $1000

HE wasn't smuggling drugs or illegally trafficking people across the border and his contraband can't have been worth much to begin with.
But that didn't stop one man trying to smuggle illegal meat across the Mexico, US border - 385 pounds of bologna to be precise.   
Yes he's definitely in a pickle after being fined $1000 for his trouble because it's illegal to bring the bologna across the border because it's made of pork and has the potential to introduce foreign animal diseases into the U.S. pork industry. The 33-year-old Mexican man might have made a real pigs ear of his smuggling attempt but he has however set a record for the largest ever bologna bust  recorded at the Santa Teresa crossing NM.
